My Panther Chameleon has been eating like a champ since I got him i keep evrything clean and mist his cage all the time. Everthing has been fine until tonight. Well i dont know if theres something wrong thats why im posting this.  I went upstairs to check on him like i do every night and he had his mouth slightly open. IS that normal he wasnt doing that last night and he hasnt been doing that since i purchased him.

A jaw that doesn't shut normally is a common symptom of MBD.  How long have you had him and how are you supplimenting his food?

I suppliment him with with repti calcium from zoo med.  If theres better let me know.  I dont think its MBD because it closes fine he is up right moving around with his mouth closed. He only had it open while he was sleeping last night.  I read that it could be heat exhaustion that i left his light on for to long. I will watch him as much as possible today and post back.

Any time our panthers (or other chameleons) are "gaping" it means that they are too hot. We researched it because we had a concern with it. We put in a fan that sweeps the entire reptile room both day and night. Hope this information helped.
