Revenge

Posted by Niki at 5/25/2013 11:17:57 AM

I just wanted to make sure everyone else felt the pain that I felt this week while checking my emails...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sruQJ12PsI

I have also been saving this & think right now is the perfect time to release it.

Presenting, George admitting there are circumstances where he would infact have a cat & a tarantula in his house.

Also thought i'd throw this in for good measure...

Now that just made my day right there.  (and I'm not even going to try to make them symetrical but you get the idea).

Tiki108,

Hahaha, day made!!

Pope of iHerp and Bread,

I don't even know what the muckluck is going on, but George is a man so he can't ever be wrong.

George H. Wessel VII,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 4:40:50 PM

^that^

Tiki108,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 7:45:26 PM

George can't be wrong?  So that means when George says metal has the most talented drummers then it must be true right?

Emily Milton,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 7:48:05 PM

Sonja just became my hero.

George H. Wessel VII,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 7:56:00 PM

No order:

Joey Jordison

Neil Peart

Joey Kramer

Paul Bostaph

Dave Lombardo

Mike Potnoy

Vinnie Paul

Igor Cavalera

George H. Wessel VII,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 7:58:45 PM

You could just stop at the first 2 though.....Lombardo for inventing the double bass......

George H. Wessel VII,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 7:59:57 PM

Niki still sucks.

Pope of iHerp and Bread,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:11:51 PM

You're missing at least 3 names that should be in there before most of your list should even be considered. Try again.

Pope of iHerp and Bread,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:13:14 PM

Except Neil. You got that one right.

George H. Wessel VII,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:16:14 PM

Bonham.

I'll let you name the other 2.

It was a quick list but I know Bonham blongs there.

George H. Wessel VII,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:16:51 PM

*belongs*

Pope of iHerp and Bread,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:17:53 PM

Moon and Grohl. And here is the thing, I hate Dave Grohl. Hate. But the man is one of the most talented drummers alive at the moment.

Emily Milton,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:20:11 PM

I don't know drummers but Bonham is my new word.

Sonja K. ,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:22:33 PM

Why, Em? Because it's close to... oh... Bang him, maybe?!

Niki ,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:23:13 PM

Apparently the internet is mad at this blog. I keep resizing an image to make it smaller, then the blog turns it back to ginormous after I post.

Fail.

Sonja K. ,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:25:31 PM

Ha! We've gone from "Call me Maybe" to "Bang him Maybe"

George H. Wessel VII,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:26:13 PM

(Pronounced bonum)

I'll give you Moon and Grohl. Grohl only as a session drummer only. Hate him solo. IMO bacon with Nirvana. His work session work is epic however. Especially with QOTSA.

+ Sonja. Here's my number. So bang me maybe Emmy?

Niki still sucks.

Sonja K. ,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:32:06 PM

If I had known how to pronounce it correctly, I'd have thought bottom... I think where my mind went the first time was more fun.

Pope of iHerp and Bread,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:32:31 PM

You have to give me Grohl. Led Zep said they were never touring again, but if they did it would only be if Grohl agreed to drum for them. There is NO higher compliment.

Emily Milton,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:35:09 PM

@George:  definitely.

George H. Wessel VII,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:37:06 PM

@ Emily: Yes.

@ Nate:

In August 2010 Jordison was voted the best drummer of the past 25 years by readers of Rhythm magazine. Competitors included Mike Portnoy, Neil Peart, Phil Collins, Dave Grohl etc. When asked to comment he stated "I'm at a loss for words. This is beyond unbelievable. Something like this reminds me every day why I continue to do this."[

George H. Wessel VII,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:40:04 PM

I'm not even a Slipknot fan. I "like" them but whatever. Joey is the greatest drummer that ever was, is and ever will be. Talent? It doesn't get any better.

Pope of iHerp and Bread,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:43:32 PM

7 billion people on the planet. Most of them probably listen to music. What 38K out of 100K people have to say about 1/3 the drumming force of Slipknot isn't going to have that much of an impact on my opinion about who is a better drummer.

If you search through the various lists of top drummers that exist on the internet, the majority put Bonham, Peart, and Moon in the top 3. Grohl and the dude from Slayer are pretty much always there too, although the Slayer guy is usually at the bottom. And then the other 5 people in the lists varies a bit. The guy from the Beatles is there half the time, though who gives a bacon. And the guy from Tool, I think.

George H. Wessel VII,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:52:48 PM

It's all just a matter of opinion anyway. IMO Jordison is the best. Nate I think we have a pretty comprehensive list of kick ass drummers between us. However.....I have no idea why anyone from Tool would show up on any list at all.

George H. Wessel VII,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:53:25 PM

Niki still sucks.

Niki ,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 8:57:35 PM

I actually don't. That's icky.

George H. Wessel VII,
Posted At: 5/25/2013 9:02:15 PM

You know what I meant.

Psycho Dragon,
Posted At: 5/27/2013 7:35:14 AM

Um... You forgot one of the biggest ones, Anthrax's Charlie Benante. This guy was playing beats that became double bass with his floor tom before the double bass even became a thing. Also, listen to some of the stuff he's put out recently, it's jaw dropping. Damn, as I was typing this I thought of some others you forgot to mention. Black Flag/Descendents/All drummer Bill Stevenson, Josh Freese from The Vandals, Tommy Ramone had a HUGE influence on drumming even though it's relatively tame by today's standards, Nicky Headon from the Clash, and don't forget other drummers like Fear Factory's Ray Herrera.

Psycho Dragon,
Posted At: 5/27/2013 7:37:18 AM

Update, I just want to say that Dave Grohl is nothing special. He brought nothing new to the drumming world. He got his start reproducing the 80's hardcore sound by listening to bands like Minor Threat.

Tiki108,
Posted At: 5/27/2013 10:49:14 AM

I'm still trying to figure out how Frost and Jens Johanssson were forgotten!

gfx,
Posted At: 5/27/2013 7:09:40 PM

That was a George imposter. George never said that.
