On the tenth day of snakes,
I bring to thee,
A few of the 2016 holdbacks that there be...
I will start out with the pair that I am holding back from the pairing of Loni to Opus. I was very pleased with the striping, lack of side patterns, etc. that came as a result of this Peruvian Longtail pairing. For anybody not familiar with Boa constrictor longicauda, they are born looking pretty drab, but as they mature, they develop more and more black coloration.
Next up are the two that I'm keeping from the pairing of my Sunset Boas, Paula and Sonny. As some may recall from a previous blog I posted, Sunsets take a couple years to really develop their oranges. With that being said, with the coloration these guys have at 9 months old, I'm pretty excited.
This one I obviously held back because of his awesome tail, but also because he matches up with one of the ones I held back in 2014 - both being very different from the others in the litters with the amount of pink expressed. I'd like to see what comes of pairing them one day.
And this one has bunches of orange coming in. As you can see in this pic, the orange is more intense / starts at the tail and then it will spread up the body more and more as she matures.
Hope you enjoyed!
