Calypso the doorknob.

I think Calypso the grey rat snake is a bit of a doorknob...

Since a couple months ago, I rarely have been able to handle her without getting bitten. And it's not a defensive bite, she honestly thinks I'm a rat! She constricts and chews.

I thought she was hungry, so I offerered her the next size of rat (pups). Didn't change a thing, she remains in feeding mode 3-4 days after eating...

So far she tried to eat me, the feeding tongs, and even my bathrobe! She has ambition, to say the least. :P

But on a more serious note, I'd like her to stop biting, because now it's funny, but when she'll be all grown up, it might hurt more. I hope she grows out of it. I don't have this problem with Plume, he knows what's what.

So, anyone knows how to stop a snake from thinking you are food?

I had a woma like that. I used hand cleaner(purell) every time so she got used to a particular scent on me and a hook to redirect her head from any exposed skin.It usually took about 15 minutes before she finally got out of feeding mode and started exploring. I  waited at least 2 days after feeding but then handled her every day.  It will happen just takes time with some. BTW that is one pretty ratsnake.

Hmmm... I had a Woma like that, too! Her name was Nadia, or more affectionately, Naughty Nadia.

She's still a doorknob

She just shed, so I picked her up to check if she was all clean. She tried to bite me, missed, and got herself instead XD
On her behalf, it's normal to be hungry after a shed. She'll get a rat tonight.
