Hana, a knife, a fork, a bottle and a cork

Posted by Aaron Florian at 6/25/2009 9:00:17 PM

The lovely Hana will be going under the knife in the morning. Knife being laporoscopic surgery. They go in through the belly button, and with a camera and tiny instruments snip snip and take it out. It's a really fascinating procedure, and fairly common, but thoughts prayers positive energy still very welcome. And to think, at the start of this week I didn't even know what a ball gladder was.

UPDATE: Well, there are some complications, so surgery has been put off.. we don't know whats happening right now, but its not a cut and dry as it was yesterday. *sigh*

UPDATE THURSDAY: Surgery should be sometime today. My only advice to Hana is to relax, be patient, and make sure that you swallow any gold fillings you have before you get anesthesia.

UPDATE THURSDAY PM: Hana is going in for surgery very shortly,... she's getting prepped for laporoscopic ball gladler removal, and hopefully that is it. Stay tuned. I tried to get her to bring the pip cam with her so we could watch, but the doctors were upset about it not being "sterile" whatever that means.

Thank you to all who responded and put a note on her door... I'm sure she'll love to see these when she comes back.

(if you haven't you can leave one here)

ball gladder?  LOL Aaron!  How's she doing?

Aaron Florian,
Posted At: 6/29/2009 12:50:26 AM
She's doing amazing from a patient point of view... Handling everything incredibly well..

Her liver and spleen are enlarged, which is what the cause for concern is... There are 100 different reasons for this, some horrific, but most of those have been ruled out.. The current theory is a blood disorder, which we are waiting for the test results to come back which should be Tuesday...

She's tired of being there and tired of being stabbed so much... I can't even imagine, but she's really doing well with everything.

Thanks you all for your wellwishes, she read iherp today on her phone and asked me to say thanks to everone for the wonderful support. It made her smile, and at this point, that's great medicine.

The waiting game continues ...*sigh*

Hana ... you have many well wishes sent to you.  I have lit a candle and send positive energy for your well being and return to a healthy balance.  I'm sorry to hear that you're having to go through the tests and the not knowing.  Same for you, Aaron, that you'll feel strength and calm moments while waiting.

Hannebuddika,

For everytime she gets stabbed she should get a new piece of jewelry for that hole :)

Katie Baker,

any updates?

Aaron Florian,
Posted At: 7/1/2009 9:05:01 AM
Still waiting blood tests, should be back today.

Hopefully this reverts back to a laproscopic ball gladder removal.
Surgery is most likely tomorrow.

Go Hana! Go Hana! It's your birthday! Go Hana!

*churns butter*

Pope of iHerp and Bread,

Ive always wanted a butter churning thingy. Can i get that when youre done?

vonnick52,
Posted At: 7/1/2009 6:57:35 PM
I remember churning butter on a field trip to a farm in elementary school!!!!!!....though the farm was right next to the school....which was located in the middle of a cornfield...so I guess it wasn't a very exciting field trip.

Kristen P,
Posted At: 7/1/2009 9:09:40 PM
LOL - Nick, did they let you milk the cow too?  :)

vonnick52,
Posted At: 7/1/2009 9:26:02 PM
Lol no, they figured we'd all done that during our summers at our own family's farm or our neighbor's farms.  My family didn't have one, but there were plenty around I personally began working for wages when I was 8, I worked in tobacco, tomatoes, and corn fields in addition to doing some work with chickens and turkeys.  It was a very crazy culture shock when I moved to Florida, needless to say lol.

I miss living in the country... a lot.

vonnick52,

But, I diverted the blog away from it's point, my apologies.

Go Hana!

The pip cam would have been great. It might have even topped the Nelsons ratings.
My thoughts and best wishes are still with her. I hope the surgery goes well.

Hope you feel better quick Hana.

Hanas operation went very well according to her doctor... Hana likes morphine, but likes this other one even better. There was a lot of pain right after, but now she's mellow enough and were watching the office..

Hana says thank you for caring about her and thinking about her, and can't wait to show off the new babies!

Jeff ,
Posted At: 7/2/2009 11:34:00 PM
