EVERYONE has dealt with mites as some point or another

Provent a Mite
Frontline Spray
Clean your cages with Chlorhexadine( I prefer it anyways) It's safe and kills germys :)

Pretty much anything containing a pymethrin is good for mites just make sure you take animal and water out if you using an areosol can. Take water out for anything obviously. As far as the front line spray you can use directly on animal in moderation.
Katie is a good one to ask about that. I personally haven't used it and always stuck to provent a mite spray

I've used both PAM and Frontline, and prefer a "combo" use approach.  I used PAM to treat the papers for the bottom of the cage, and frontline on the cage and animal itself.  I treat every animal coming in, just in case, with frontline and PAM sprayed papers, and (knock on wood) have avoided any serious mite outbreaks since

Put 2 oz of nix to a gallon of distilled water, shake well, put in a spray bottle.  Thoroughly clean cage (bleach, etc etc)....put the snake back in with newspaper....spray everything down thoroughly with the nix solution...put the water bowl in temporarily on a daily basis and let them drink if they want.  treat again in 2 weeks....and i've never had an issue past that point. I typically do another treatment just to be on the safe side.  The point of taking the water dish out and only allowing it to have water while being observed is to make sure they don't soak in the dish, then drink it.  The soaking would put the chemicals (which are quite powerful) in the water, then into the snake, which would not be good.

You can store the solution for quite awhile, as long as it's in a dark place as light deteriorates the active chemicals in the Nix....make sure to mark the jug and the spray bottle.   I have a bottle that I use to treat every animal that comes into my collection.  I hose 'em down as soon as they get in the door as a preventative measure.  Mites irritate the hell out of me.

The nix worked for me. You can even spray the snake directly with no ill effects.Three days after the first treatment I soak the snake in warm water with a few drops of dawn dish soap in it. That breaks the surface tension of the water to allow the water to penetrate further under the scales to help drown/rinse off dead or dying mites.I however use listerine as the cage cleaning solution as it kills more germs than bleach and has a pleasant smell to it.  The other thing is Walmart sells an item called a hot shot. These hang or sit on a shelf in or near the snake room I keep one in there year round now to prevent any bugs from surviving in the room. Not to be used around lizards or crickets. You can find them in the aisle with ant traps and rodent traps cost about 6 bucks lasts for about 4-5 months. Not sure of the manufacturer but I believe its Raid. These contain dychlorovos
