75,000 strong!

Posted by Pope of iHerp and Bread at 2/7/2012 2:30:45 PM

Well, almost. Right now my page says that we're 102 animals away from 75,000. What a number! Why, when I was a youngin' growin' up with the iHerp, there were only 2,000 or so animals. Now here we are, almost 4 years 73,000 animals later, and this place has grown by leaps and bounds.

A lot has happened over the last few years in regards to this site and it's wonderful members. A lot of good relationships, collaborations, and business ventures have been formed, as well as great friendships and more (I'm creepily looking in the direction of Hana and Aaron).

It's been a blast so far, and it's only going to get better. But right now all I wanna know is, what will be number 75,000? I'm taking guesses. I don't have a prize to offer you, but every time I've done one of these blogs, Aaron has offered up something, so I'm sure he won't disappoint. Right, fearless leader?

Don't drink and herp!

Should we just guess species or be really specific like morph, species and gender?

If it's just species I guess Ball Python, if not I'll add onto that guess.

Paul White,

Just wait till the breeding season :P

Posted At: 2/7/2012 3:01:47 PM

I'll take one of the odds-on favorites: crested gecko. Of course, it'll probably be something hilariously rare in American collections, like a rough scale python or a Mexican West-Coast Cribo. I want both of those, by the way.

Posted At: 2/7/2012 3:02:07 PM

haha i'm betting its a cockroach, not even a reptile :)

Patrick Malloy,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 3:16:21 PM

ive got two more animals coming my nuts if one of mine was it

Ill have roughies sometime in the near future too.....been eye balling them too hard to not buy a pair.

Posted At: 2/7/2012 3:18:32 PM

I hope I'll be on iHerp still, when the 20 year anniversary hits! I love this site!

Posted At: 2/7/2012 3:25:30 PM

Dang, Patrick, you let me know when you get some roughies. That would be SWEET.

Psycho Dragon,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 3:32:05 PM

My guess is a ball python. Seems like there are tons of them added every day.

Pope of iHerp and Bread,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 3:40:15 PM

Tiki, just the species.

Posted At: 2/7/2012 3:41:45 PM

I will guess Corn Snake! :)

The Shammernator ,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 3:57:34 PM

I remember when we hit 1,000 animals. I'm so proud to have been here since iHerp's infancy!!!!

Michael ,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 4:02:43 PM

Come on Nate  .. We all know it will be a RED GTP Hatchling !!!

Mystic Exotics ,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 4:38:07 PM

I was gonna say Cornsnake, but since that is taken, I'm gonna go with Carpet Python...Coastal

Leonard + Nikki ,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 5:11:32 PM

ill guess bci

The Shammernator ,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 5:25:32 PM

its going to be a crested gecko.

Mellisa Carey,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 5:35:26 PM

I'm voting Ball python. Though Corn snake or Crested Gecko could easily be just as likely.

Sonja ,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 7:01:23 PM

Leopard gecko.

Emily Milton,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 7:29:30 PM

I know deep down in my heart that it will be a Wombat.  EVERYTHING should be a Wombat.  Why?  Because there isn't one on this site yet.  Who cares if it's iHerp?  If someone gives me proof of a wombat, I'll mail you some beer.  All hail the Wombat!

However, I'm going red tail boa.

Posted At: 2/7/2012 7:30:41 PM

OMG yes a wombat. :D

Ché Kinnard,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 7:53:38 PM

Guys! It's going to be a banned Burmese-African-Indian-ENP python!

Jennifer White,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 8:09:02 PM
Since ball python, carpet python and green tree python have already been mentioned, I'm going to say a bearded dragon.

Posted At: 2/7/2012 8:50:49 PM

Ball python lol

Live long and

Posted At: 2/7/2012 9:00:30 PM

Emily my boyfriend is from Australia, if I put him on this site and label him "The Wombat" can I have a beer?

Posted At: 2/7/2012 10:00:02 PM

Leopard Gecko.

Posted At: 2/7/2012 10:35:30 PM

Some damn cat.

Laura Lee ,
Posted At: 2/7/2012 11:04:39 PM

Platypus FTW

Sam Fredericks,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 12:32:41 AM

it will be a crestie!

Tyler ,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 12:35:17 AM

ball python, yup I know original right?

Mystic Exotics ,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 1:01:48 AM

LMAO Julie!

Paul White,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 1:19:48 AM

I hope it's something rare...we have less than 20 cribos (all sorts) on here.  I think about that with Chinese King rats. I only saw one radiated rat snake when I searched.

More esoteric stuff!

Shannon ,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 9:50:52 AM

Carpet :-) I vote carpet.

Sonja K. ,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 10:37:01 AM

I'll go with an ATB. I don't think anyone guessed that yet.

Sonja K. ,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 10:37:37 AM

Oh look! Just 50 to go!

Brett Nation,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 12:00:07 PM

SIDE NOTE! I noticed iHerp has 2,000 LIKES on Facebook now! Woot woot!

L & A Lopez =0),
Posted At: 2/8/2012 1:43:20 PM

...someone just posted ass tons of cat and dog pictures. How awesome would it be if Fido made 75,000?

It'll be someone's kid. for sure.

Posted At: 2/8/2012 3:00:18 PM

Anyone who dares snipe 75,000 with a cat should be banned for life. and beaten. severely.

Emily Milton,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 3:01:22 PM

I still say Wombat - just because I can.

Aaron Florian,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 3:02:43 PM

I took care of said mammals. Cat go bye bye

Emily Milton,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 3:04:27 PM

How do you know which critter is # 75,000?

Pope of iHerp and Bread,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 3:09:33 PM

I have super powers. And by that I mean, Aaron will tell me.

Aaron Florian,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 3:23:01 PM

>> How do you know which critter is # 75,000?

math. :)

Emily Milton,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 3:24:33 PM

The last time I tried to math I accidentally turned the toaster oven on with the power of my mind and never saw the cat again.

Just tell me who wins.

Posted At: 2/8/2012 5:25:46 PM

If you never saw the cat again, I'd say it was you who won. Congrats! :)

Sonja K. ,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 5:41:37 PM

It's getting so close and I have nothing to add until the eggs in my incubator hatch...  argh!

Wouldn't it be awesome if one of them was animal #  75,000 on day 75 of their incubation!? Maybe that's what they've been waiting for!?

Posted At: 2/8/2012 7:44:31 PM

Okay, we're at 75009 - what was it?  Corn snake?

L & A Lopez =0),
Posted At: 2/8/2012 8:06:56 PM far as i can see by just counting backward in the newest animals. boo.

Aaron Florian,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 8:08:55 PM

Hang on... let me get Math in here and solve this predicament!

L & A Lopez =0),
Posted At: 2/8/2012 8:09:07 PM

soooo SlitheringSweetheart and Heather won this round...

Aaron Florian,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 8:13:11 PM

L & A Lopez =0),
Posted At: 2/8/2012 8:17:38 PM

the corny people uploaded 12 corns today.... how did they not take #75,000?

Pope of iHerp and Bread,
Posted At: 2/8/2012 8:42:14 PM

There will be no booing corn snakes in any of my threads! But it wasn't a corn.

Posted At: 2/8/2012 9:17:07 PM

Boooooo, corn snakes!

Posted At: 2/8/2012 9:51:08 PM

Nate, if I can't booooo cornsnakes, can I ask how many iHerp points you have and how many you need before you'll catch up to me?

Sonja K. ,

Pope of iHerp and Bread,
Posted At: 2/9/2012 6:10:48 AM

It was a BP. We're just waiting on a pic, I think.

Julie is the only person who can boo corns in my blogs.

Sonja, I think I'm about 400,000 iHerp points short of you.

Paul White,
Posted At: 2/9/2012 9:41:27 AM

Well, now to take bets on what'll be the 100,000th animal (if it takes till hatchling season maybe it can be one of my kings!)

Counting out I thought it was a corn that made it, just by the "most recent upload" section.

Pope of iHerp and Bread,
Posted At: 2/9/2012 9:43:53 AM

An animal only makes it to the newest animal section if their is a picture to go with the entry. The BP has no picture. Sad.

Posted At: 2/9/2012 10:24:53 AM

I lose either way. Sad panda--or should I say, wombat?

Posted At: 2/9/2012 10:39:25 AM

100,000th animal will be Aaron's female Boelens.

Aaron Florian,
Posted At: 2/9/2012 3:40:45 PM

you mean Toby and my Females clutch :D

The Shammernator ,
Posted At: 2/9/2012 8:17:19 PM

LOL! a cluch of boeleni in captivity.... that's a good joke Aaron :P

Seriously though that would be the muckluck.

Psycho Dragon,
Posted At: 2/9/2012 9:17:22 PM

Woohoo! I won! So... wait... what did I win? Ah hell, just winning is good enough for me.
