Need help guys!!! Seriously stumped.

Posted by Master Gator at 2/23/2012 10:44:31 AM

So my gf's birthday is coming up and I have no idea what the hell to get her.  She LOVES Harry Potter so I was gonna stick with that topic.  Does anyone know of any cool muckluck that's HP that I can get her??  Clothes, shoes etc...Preferably nothing that I'm going to be spending a fortune on.  And no jewelry...unless maybe a necklace but she's allergic to most metals unless it's real silver (no idea how she dates me being that I'm SUPER metal as muckluck ;)

Please any ideas are greatly appreciated.  I have like 2 weeks.

You should get her the house scarves. :o considering its chilly out it would have two uses.
Or maybe you can get a signed copy of a book? I don't know how much that's be though.
Oooooo if you live near Florida you can take her to the Harry potter world in universal.

The Nimbus 2000 Vibrating Broomstick was recalled, for obvious reasons.

Good wholesome family fun. *cough* :)

Ugh it all seems good but it's hard to get something for someone who already has it all...
Thanks for the links though!

I know you wanna stick with Harry potter but a good gift besides that would be a pandora charm bracelet. My bf adds charms to mine and I love it. I even have a snake one :D
You can get her a bracelet for like $45 and a cute charm for like $30. To start her off. Plus they are silver and some gold

Oooohhh I think I found some good stuff!

First, I will say I know squat about Harry Potter, LOL, but doing something to make the idea more personal... and/or create a memory with a small token that you give might be pretty cool. Could you go with a theme night - pick a things from one or more of the movies and "play it out" as far as different places to go... where that leads to is up to you, of course - LOL

As far as a "token" of it all, perhaps get a generic wand, and then print out  some of her favorite quotes and put them on the wand and seal it with some sort of clear coat? Or if you don't like the quote idea, just things that represent her various interests.

www.alivans.com - Get her a wand or an official Quiddich broom

www.greyschool.com - sign up up for classes at a "real hogwarts"

My roomie bought her boyfriend Star Wars themed chop sticks for Christmas, due his love for Star Wars and sushi. Maybe something like that???

+1000000 vibrating broomstick...lol

Ummm...Germany's metal?  Who?  Rammstein?  Not that much says the Norwegian.  No one beats Scandinavia.

Era_Daven,

Oh my God, you did not just put down German metal!!!!!!!!! Blind Guardian?! Helloween?! Gamma Ray?! Rage?! Grave Digger?! Running Wild?! There are so many more!

Laurel & Nick ,

I do like Blind Guardian, but as for the most metal countries you can't claim Germany over the Scandinavian ones. There's a reason why two of the members from the metal themed show Metalocalypse hail from there. Check the stereotype. Note to self, need to add to DVD list.

Tiki108,

Ew, I hate Rammstein, lol.  I have the Helloween pumpkin tattooed on my leg and I've actually met Helloween and Gamma Ray.  And who could forget bands from Germany like Kreator (one of my favorites), Edguy, Iron Savior, Lacrimosa and Angel Dust.

Here's a list of German metal bands: http://www.metal-archives.com/lists/DE

I think there are great bands from many different countries, can't downplay bands like Iron Maiden, Saxon, Judas Priest and Venom from England; Dio, Iced Earth, Kamelot, Manowar, Metal Church, Death, Fates Warning, Exodus, Nevermore, Overkill, Queensrÿche, Firewind (though now they live in Greece I believe), Saviour Machine, Seven Witches, Symphony X, Testament,  and Savatage from America; Dark Moor from Spain, Eidolon and Kataklysm from Canada; Killers and Nightmare from France; Mortification and Virgin Black from Australia; Rhapsody from Italy.

I love Metalocalypse (have all the DVDs) and they play off of stereotypes really well, that doesn't make them facts.  Does Scandinavia have some awesome bands?  Of course, I love Crystal Eyes, King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, Marduk, Arch Enemy, Stratovarius and Dream Evil (very short list I know, but you get the idea).  But I would never down play any of the other countries, especially Germany.

Which 2 members were you talking about?  Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha are both from America.

Master Gator,

First of all, Necrophagist is from Germany...AKA better than all those aformentioned bands. So I rest my case.  Europe is just an all around good scene for it.  ;)

I was just teasing.  Sorry if I caused a bit of unrest.  What did you end up getting for your gf?

And Tiki, I meant the fictional characters on the show, Toki and Skwisgaar.  Jealous you have the whole collection.  I love how they poke fun at certain rock personas out there.

Tiki108,

Gotcha, I wasn't upset or anything, I just love my German metal, lol.  And you should be it's an awesome show!
