What a week...

Posted by Joseph Jenkins at 5/2/2011 10:34:35 PM

Well as you all know, we were hit hard down here by the tornadoes.  I just got internet and power today.  It looks like a nuke went off in many areas, it is unbelievable how much has been destroyed.

My heart and prayers go out to the guys at Coral Reef Aquatics.  Their homes, vehicles, pets, and business were completely destroyed.  It was depressing beyond words having to go through and salvage what was left.

The nice thing about herps is that I just didn't feed anyone for 5 days while the power was out.  Eggs however were a different story.  It was loads of fun heating up bags of water every 5 hrs and placing them in incubators...

This has been quite the emotional week, and to think that there are still people who are unaccounted for.

That's so horrible. I'm glad you're ok and that you finally got power back on. So much tragedy and destruction, "emotional week" has to be an understatement to say the least. Hope your eggs are ok.

Thats horrible about Coral Reef Aquatics, I was in the neighborhood next to them helping clean  what we could. Good luck with the eggs David mentioned that some hatched a little early.

Man, that's gotta be tough.  Glad to see you've made it through the storm.  Good luck with your clutch(es) and I hope your town recoops quickly.

That's really tough, I hope that you, your eggs, your reptiles, Coral Reef Aquatics, and others are safe and get through this hard time even though it could take time to rebuild what has been lost. Good luck.

Emotional is right, Joseph. Glad your family and friends fared well. Kudos to you and your buddies for your help at John and Hank's. Glad to hear the eggs are hanging in there!!!

thanks everyone,

Interestingly enough, even with temp fluctuations of 10 degrees C, it appears that all the eggs are doing well, Leachianus, Beardie, and Leos.
