Q: Black Tongues and Pink Pastels?
Posted By:

So I was poking around online, and read a story about a Pink Pastel Ball Python that was produced, and there was only on ever produced.  Has anyone heard of it or seen it?  Im curious about what it looks like.

Also, Does anyone know why rtb's tongues are black?  I was trying to find some answer in books and a variety of online sources to no avail.  Are all of the normals' tongues black?  Can ball pythons have black tongues?  I wonder if its a genetic trait.  Nothing important, just curious.

Ooh, I would love to see a pink pastel BP. That one must be a looker. I haven't heard of it before, but there are a lot of new "morphs" that aren't talked about usually until the baby is grown (Some morphs die off early), or it is replicated. It may be a pink pastel, but if it only makes normal pastels then it isn't anything special, so they usually wait until that's proven or several are hatched from a clutch to advertise.

And as for the black tongue, some types of snakes have it, some snakes don't. It's depending on the species of snake. I know Speckled Kingsnakes have black tongues that are actually speckled like their body. It's kind of the same how some species of dog have black streaks on their tongues, like Alaskan dogs.
