Boa constrictors are iradescent; it's more evident on dark colored boas.... PS... that's a boa constrictor imperator... not a boa constrictor constrictor

Sparkle
One of my little island boas (BCI) just shed and I took him out in the sun yesterday, he was sparkling a rainbow...  That's the super-cool thing about boas!!  (okay, not the only super cool thing, but one of them...)  Fun, huh?  :)

I don't think there's any such thing as a "Rainbow red tail." Rainbow boas and Boa constrictors are completely different snakes. Boa constrictors are iridescent, though.. My two shimmer a little bit in every light, especially sunlight! My Hogg Island cross shines like a rainbow in the sun. =)

If their was such a thing I am sure the Price tag for that would be hugh!!! I don't think you could get that from a pet store.

Yeah like what everyone else said, no such thing as a "rainbow red tail"  All snake scales are irredescent to different levels.  Boas tend to quite irredescent.  It's just the nature of the snake scale, it refracts light into all the visible wavelengths.
My 2 boas out in the sunlight shine like rainbows as well. (not including the actual rainbow boa I do have haha)

OK I AM FINALLY GOING TO SAY THIS I AM SICK OF THE CONTRAVERSY OF RED TAIL BOA CONSTRICTOR AND IMPERATOR !!!!! there is no sence putting a public post to make the person feel like an idiot you list the real difference between them other then the size and that it is still in the general family then it may be relevant !!!!!

Other then that I have noticed on more then one type of snake the pigment of their skin have a rainbow shine I believe it happends when there is alot of oil on their skin.
