Australian Water Pythons ~ Liasis fuscus

Posted by Sonja K. at 3/30/2012 11:05:27 AM

What can I say, I love the species that make up the Liasis genus!

To me there is nothing more beautiful than a sleek, dark-colored, patternless snake. The natural iridescence is incredible, and it's likely what led me to originally add Water Pythons to my collection (Liasis fuscus). Then, I fell in love with their personalities - the inquisitiveness, the "intelligence"... the wonderfulness of this underappreciated species.

I really miss the New Guinea group that I had prior to the incident, but thanks to Sonja (the "other" Sonja Wink, my friend and fellow iHerp member), it wasn't long before fuscus had reentered my collection... this time Australian ones.

Anyways, Tahoe and Talise are coming along real nice and I thought it'd be fun to share some recent pics I took of them.

First up is Tahoe... he's the more outgoing one of the two.

And then Talise... she's a little more shy, hesitant...

Both can be a bit cage aggressive, but once out, they calm down nicely and love to explore.

Hope you enjoyed! Smile
