Dedicated mother

I was feeding some fuzzies to my snakes, and had one left over. I hated to let it go to waste, so I figured I'd feed it to one of my female leopard geckos, Freckles. Freckles is in her first year of breeding, but is completely out of sync with the rest of my population. All my other females are done, but she has laid 3 clutches so far this fall. Plus, she is a fincky eater. So even though I seldom offer mice to them, I figured she could use the boost, if she'd even eat it. It turned out to be the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. At first I wasn't sure what she was doing. She'd grab it, shake it, and toss it. I thought maybe it was just too big, and she'd ignore it after a while. But nope, she spent 10 minutes making sure it was really dead! And then the next 10 minutes trying to bury the body! Even after I removed it, she is still making sure it won't threaten her again.
