Happy New Year 2013

Posted by Sonja K. at 1/1/2013 4:30:15 PM

Happy New Year iHerp!

May 2013 be kind to us all!

A few of the critters joined in the celebration last night and allowed me to capture the moment. Smile

First up, Tanto, one of my male Rhino Rat Snakes:

Then ATB Baby #3

Dove, a yearling ATB:

And finally "Chaos"... an Amel SD...

And I know there are only a few that knew I did, so for everyong else, yes, I have Super Dwarf Retics.

I was asked to join 2 ladies in their ongoing 8 year project last Spring. Honestly, I thought a good amount of time on whether or not to take them up on the offer. I finally did so on the condition that it would be on a 6 month trial basis to see how I liked them and if I ever decided they weren't for me, they would be returned. Neither had any issue with that, and the group of 3 - this male Amel, and 2 normal, poss. het females entered into my care. They are 2011s and have been here for 8+ months now, and I adore them! They are fairly similar in personalities / "intelligence" to my Olives and Timors. The mother is ~ 8 ft... so very similar in size to my Olives, too, which was a big factor that went into my consideration.

At any rate... here is the cutie... at ~ 20 months old... and just over 300 grams...

Thanks! You, too!

George, I think Jeff would be your best bet for someone that keeps such a critter.

Thanks all!

One of the things I'm excited about as far as in keeping the SDs is that I have Timors and Olives that are of approx. the same age, so not only do I get the first hand experience in noting the similarities and differences in the characteristics of the species, but I can also document the growth of them and compare.
