On the Fifth Day of Snakes...

Posted by Sonja K. at 12/18/2013 9:37:58 AM

The Fifth Day of Snakes features my pair of Rough Scale Pythons.

First up is Mitchell:

Next up is Kimberley. I have a feeling she was not thrilled with the camera flash and as a result, I got to see a side of her I hadn't previously seen. Surprised

Only 7 days 'til Christmas!

Oh, and I'll award you some of my iHerp points if you can tell me how these two got their names! Smile

Is it me, or do roughies look like they want to bite the pudding out of everything and everyone?

Such cute angry faces!

OMG This is too cute!  Work has been rough today, so roughies are just what I needed to put a smile on my face!

Is it because they're natural distribution is (as far as we know) restricted to the Mitchell Plateau area of the Kimberley region in Western Australia?

Posted At: 12/18/2013 5:36:58 PM

Or isn't there a river Mitchell near their initial collection site? I can't remember and I don't want to cheat...

Anyway, their named after their remote habitat--and they are awesome!

Thanks all!

Ding ding ding! David gets the points! (found in the lower areas of the Mitchell and Hunter Rivers)

Now can someone tell me how I go about transfering some of my iHerp points to his account?

I hate tests. So figure it out yourself.

I'm just relieved that I remembered that detail (somewhat) correctly--which I should, given my growing fascination with these snakes.

You deserve to keep all of your points and then some, Sonja; indeed, your value to the community is incalculable.

Thank you for the kind words, David.

Love those last few pics...I know snakes dont really have "expressions" but she looks more and more annoyed as the pics progress :)
