Man killed by cassowary bird

A 75 year old man fell down in his cassowary bird enclosure and the bird attacked him. He later died from his wounds at a local hospital.

Sad story. You have to have a permit to own them in Florida, so clearly he was able to get the permit and had good enclosures, etc. He was acting responsibly in setting the animal up, but had a tragic accident occur.

What I don't get are the commenters.

"Why can't people just own a cat or dog?"

Why do you care so much? It killed the guy who owned it-- no one else was involved.

"Why would anyone mess with dangerous wildlife?"

How often do we see people killed by pet dogs in the news? Way more often than people killed by exotics...

I just don't get why people end up so concerned and then want things banned. If it's not hurting anyone else, why is it your business?
