Don't You Hate It When...

Posted by Abby McDufford at 12/11/2009 8:21:21 PM

Someone COMPLETELY stands you up on buying an animal? I've been advertising my Leopard Geckos for a little while now, and I've gotten many interested responses but no buyer. Finally, a woman contacted me about 5 days ago wanting to come get them. I make her a great deal on a setup and the geckos, we set a date and time, etc... Well she was supposed to come this morning before 1 pm (this is Friday the 11th). She says she will call before she comes. So I'm waiting... and waiting... and waiting. No call, no email, no show. Now I totally understand if something comes up, but PLEASE have the decency to email or call me to tell me you're not coming. It seriously takes 2 frakkin' minutes. Hell, most people can text an email right through their phone! It just boggles my mind when someone seems so sincere and then does something like this. I would never set something up and then totally blow that person off.

I just felt like venting, a little. I figured a lot of you have probably experienced this :)

heh, that's the one.

it's surprising (and not) how often that can happen.

I know, pathetic really. Sometimes I wonder if it was their intent from the beginning, or something else...

Gr, that sucks. I've had no-shows for selling things on craigslist.. and I got Athena because the person who wanted her first was a no show (and the lady drove in a half an hour to town to meet him, what a jerk).

This was a Craigslist no-show, actually. Seems common with that site. I've got an even worse one for ya - We drove 4-5 hours to meet someone for some nice show rabbits years ago, I literally had to beg my dad to take me! He finally says yes, and I was so excited. We get to the McDonalds we were supposed to meet at (it was only an hour drive for her)... and waited for like 2 hours. Never showed up. My dad was soo mad! lol. To make matters worse, she had the nerve to send me a hateful email accusing ME of standing her up and not showing up. I had a receipt from the freaking McDonalds!!

Wow.  I've never had this happen to me, but I am sure it's just a matter of time.  I've sure heard of it happening to other people quite often.  I can tell you that as I started reading this, I did get my hopes up for a brief second that someone stood you up on Morpha!  ;)

haha, Rebecca :P Nope, that deal is still set! She's a good friend :) but I will say, I hope you go a long time without experiencing this... It is frustrating!

It takes all kinds.... I get so pissed when this happens to me. Like you I'm not mad that they didn't buy the animal, as you said things come up but at least let me know so I do not waste a full day waiting for a phone call.....

Exactly... especially when you're third shift like me and you could be doing better things like SLEEPING, lol!
