The Bell has Rung! Let the Fight Begin...

Posted by Sonja K. at 3/16/2010 9:00:01 PM

I hope these two little guys will live up to their names and prove to me and everybody else that they are prize fighters! : )

These 2 little ones arrived this morning. The previous owner purchased the Sable BP this past August, and then the Spider Het Ghost BP in November. Recently, he decided to start selling off his Ball Python collection to pursue the keeping of a different species of python.

A little over a month ago, though, these 2 BPs regurgitated for the first time, and have regurgitated two more times since for a total of 3 times each. (The last time they did was a week ago today.) The owner, felt that it would be best to place them up for adoption in the hope someone was willing to work with them; and even offered to split the cost of shipping. I volunteered to give it a go.

They are awfully tiny and look pretty dehydrated - even more so in person than it appears in the pictures. After letting them rest in their cages for a few hours, I began soaking them in luke warm water to help try and rehydrate them.

This will be a series of baby steps... and hopefully slowly but surely these two will come out victorious!

First is "Sugar Ray", the Spider het. Ghost BP:

Next is "Ali", a Sable BP:

Wish us all luck....

Thanks everyone! I'm looking forward to the challenge - they really are a couple of cuties and definitely have the potential to be some really good looking BPs. Fingers crossed...

Thanks all!
You know, I tried to tell myself beforehand that if nothing else, this will just be a good experience for me, I enjoy a challenge, and if they don't make it, I'm only out $20.... But.... I felt a connection to them immediately!
I had seen the Sables online, and never thought too much of them... in person, though, he's really nice looking! I am most concerned about Sugar Ray - and oh is he adorable!

Best of luck with them!!  They are both very pretty & cute too with those buggy baby eyes!  :)  I hope Katie's right!  Do you know anything about how readily they were eating before they regurg'ed?
