12 Days of Snakes - The Tradition Continues...

Posted by Sonja K. at 12/14/2011 12:10:43 PM

As I have for the past couple years, I will be counting down through Christmas day with holiday themed pictures of some of my snakes.

Please feel free to take and post some of your own within my blogs! I really enjoy when people join in the fun of it!

Without further to do...

Today features Harold and Carina... my African White-Lipped Snakes, also known as Herald Snakes (Crotaphopeltis hotamboeia).

First is Carina, she is a CBB girl that I adore so much. She is still a tiny little one, but is now able to take an entire one day old pinky at a time.Laughing For the first year she was with me, I fed her little pieces that were snipped off of a frog. (Good thing she's cute, huh!? LOL)

I'll start off with my favorite picture of those I took of her last night:

And then after letting me take some nice shots, she was out of there....

Second is Harold, my recently acquired male adult. He came originally from the country of Tanzania and per his previous owner was a frog only eater. On the very first feeding attempt with me, he took a frog-scented fuzzy mouse, and did again in the feeding since. Laughing

He never showed me his defensive posture, but he wasn't in the mood to sit still either, so only a couple pics of him.

Hope you enjoyed! I'll be back again tomorrow! Smile

Aaaah... I see. There will be more Colubrids, I'm sure, but just so you know, since I no longer keep any of the same species you do, pics of those kinds will have to come from you... or someone besides me, anyway.

....for now.

That is how I think you meant to end your setence. We'll have this talk again in the spring.

I love the Christmas gator!  Thanks for playing along!

Here are my Day 12 contributions!

First we have Christmas Balls!

Top row:  Heidi (pastel lesser produced by Ian G.), Stanley (albino produced by Ian G.), Maverick (Bumble bee produced by Ian G.)

Bottom row:  Baja (cinnamon produced by Ian G.), Zippy (chocolate pinstripe produced by BHB Reptiles), Noel (fire spider produced by Fred Kick.

And, I also have a lot of non-herps around here who wanted to get in on the fun.  So, here is Thurston, a lionhead rabbit.  I adopted him from the shelter I work at part time.  He was given up because his owner moved.
