Comments:	I adopted Mr. Magoo from a reptile rescue. He had been hit by a car and the back of his shell was crushed and he lost his tail and part of his upper beak and 85% of his sight. He also sustained nerve damage to his back legs. I actually think "he" is a "she" by the shape of the plastron but there was so much damage it was nearly impossible to tell. We bonded almost immediately. He needed assistance with eating the most. We developed a system where I would say, "Open your mouth," and I kid you not he would listen and open his mouth and I would stick the food in and he would swallow it. This became our daily ritual and he quickly became one of my buddies. I always told him what I was going to do before I did it so it minimized his stress. You could see how difficult it was for him to walk and it just broke your heart but he had spirit and determination. He even slept standing up on his hind legs in the corner of his enclosure. I don't know how he did it! One morning I woke up and found that he had passed away in his sleep. He had fallen over on his back and couldn't right himself. That's not the reason for his death tho. He hung on as long as he could given the injuries he suffered but now he's in a better place and I take comfort in knowing that he's not in anymore pain. I love you Magoo!
