Comments: This is Monty. We've had him since May of '09. His diet consists of chicken n mice soon he'll get to have lobster roaches as well. He's a fun and exciting part of our collection, the one that gets to be shown around when guests are scared of snakes ;)

Awww, he's so cute! Hey, if you're still learning how to care for him, this thread on the bearded dragon forum is pretty neat. It's one guy's (so far successful) experimentation (and discussion thereof) with raising his Sav 100% right. Apparently they don't usually live very long, since people still don't know exactly how to keep them. :( Here's the link: http://www.beardeddragon.org/bjive/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=130652 And, of course, finding a good forum for Varanus (monitor) keepers would be a good idea... :) Good luck with him, he's a cutie! And hopefully he'll live a long, healthy life for you! :) (Can you tell, yet, that it's my dream to have a Sav of my own? lol!!)

Ha ha. Monty, as I stated has been in our household for almost a year and he still likes to hiss n whip his tail. He's never bitten us, just our clothes. His personality wont help but make you laugh, for instance I was sifting through his sand last night and run straight under the sifter n just looked around. He is the ideal candidate for a DORK. I cal him Sir Hissy Pants sometimes because of how much he hisses once you move your hand around his enclosure. It's taking us quite a bit to tame him, although I will have to say my boyfriend could be taking him out more (he's his) but now that I've lost the nervousness of taking him out I might get around to it. It's just a matter of time for him to trust us and learn we're nothing but a food source and trustworthy people :).

What is Monty like as a pet? I recently got a hatchling and she is a little pistol!! I am working with her, but she is not tame yet by any means. So how's about some info FROM you - LOL!!
