Animal Name: Dahmer
Species: Common Northern Boa
Boa constrictor imperator
Sex: Male
Comments: I'm not sure if he is a BCI, but I know he isn't a BCC b/c his tail is not completely red. This is my first Boa, I've only ever had pythons, so please. If I posted the wrong species, I apologize, but please correct me in a non-rude way, thank you.

The only reason I say in a non-rude way is because when I had him labeled BCC i received rude comments from people correcting my mistake, i don't mind people correcting, i actually ask for ppl to correct me when I'm wrong, but please all I ask is be nice about it. Thanx :)

I'd say if you guys are nervous about new snakes just get a hook. They're really good and help teach the snake it's ok to be handled without feeling the heat sig. of a larger "prey" animal. Gloves don't allow them to smell you or feel your hands. Either way though he's a cutie :)

and one more thing, as for the comment i accidently deleted instead of my own, you asked or said about the gloves my fiancee was wearing in the picture while holding Dahmer, we only wore gloves for the first 2-3 weeks to see how his temperment was to find out if he was aggressive, or docile. And we found out he's very docile, only a bit skitish, but from the home he came from before me, it is only understandable he'd be that way. Unlike my Ball Python, who is curious and careless, Dahmer is curious yet reserved. So, no more gloves it was only temporary. :)

also the reason I had him down as a Guyana, as I previously said was because I couldn't find the correct species name BCI, in the drop down menu, the only one I found was Common Northern Boa and I wasn't sure if it were the same, Like I said this is my first Boa, I've only raised and kept Pythons in my life. That is the reason I joined Iherp, to get more info on the newest addition to my family.

I ACCIDENTLY DELETED SOMEONES COMMENT INSTEAD OF MY OWN COMMENT, AND I APOLOGIZE. I know the breed of my snake and know that he is not a BCC, i couldn't find the correct name of species in the drop down menu when I made this account, This is my first Boa, I've only ever delt with Pythons in my life. So if I accidently named his type of species wrong, I apologize. But I can tell the differnce between the two, I apologize if anyone thought otherwise of his breed, and I have since then corrected it. Thank you for the heads up guys, and thanks for the compliments.

This is a Common Columbian Boa, a BCI, not a BCC. It's really easy to tell. Google Guyana Red Tailed Boa and you'll immediately see the difference.
