Animal Name: Copperhead
Species: Common Corn Snake
Elaphe guttata guttata
Sex: Male
Morph: Amel Motley het Caramel
Comments: Copperhead is somewhat of a mystery to me. His parents were both Butter Motley virgins. All of his siblings looked like Butter Motleys. He looked like an Amel, yet genetics would suggest he should be a Butter Motley. My best guess is that somehow he is an Amel Motley het for Caramel.

Hopefully at some point I will be able to prove him out and solve the mystery. I'd like to test him with a Caramel Motley in the future.

Yeah, butter is a simple recessive, so either he is just an odd butter, or one of his parents was not butter, and the other was het for whatever the mystery gene is. He is definitely not a normal amel. Regardless, he is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! -p-

I know!! He's my little mystery. The weirdest thing is that his parents were both virgins, so he couldn't be a case of retained sperm.. Murphy really decided to have some fun with this one!

Youll find your girl some day. I have a killer amel stripe ph caramel, but she has a hot date already lined up for next year.

I suppose anything is possible! He really looks like an Amel though.. he's about 4 years old now, and has started to dull a bit in color, but in his "hay day" he was very bright orange. Not sure if I ever will get to test him out, but I've been looking around for a Caramel Mot female for him! At this point he's a pet, a member of my old collection that I finally got back from an Ex. The story is not a great one, and I just feel lucky that he is in my hands and living a happy life. If I never find out exactly what he is, it won't be too terrible of a loss. It would be fun though!

Is there any chance that it was a golddust x butter pairing and Copperhead is a golddust or an ultra caramel?
