Animal Name: Hatchling Anolis

Comments: I mix of different island brown anole eggs that I hatched. The eggs were acquired from a friend and I look forward to breeding these in the near future. Brown anoles can really fight for food, (especially tiny meal worms) this soon discourages the smaller weaker ones from eating. They must be housed with others of similar hatch date and size to prevent competition for food. These are the seven survivors that ate enough fast enough out of the batch of a dozen fertile eggs. They start well on fruit flies and even fungus gnats. Later, I try hatchling mealworms and pinhead crickets. Those that take to mealworms early grow faster and fatter than the ones who prefer only pinhead crickets and fruit flies. Very small superworms are then offered along with larger crickets. I find it beneficial to provide a variety of foods so the anoles can be accustomed to eating whatever feeders I have available in surplus.
