Not so much high metabolisms as unbelievable gluttony. I think that these are the only herps I own that would actually eat until they explode. The adult females get 2-3 rat weaners a week, which is a decent meal for snakes of their size and weight. (P.S. I also prefer the adults - I think the babies are rather gaudy, but they're cute so I allow it. :) )

"But they get ugly when they're adults" Are you sick of hearing that? I don't know why people bust on these so much, I loved mine. And I think they look TREMENDOUS as adults. Great animals (but high metabolisms!)
