Comments:	I acquired these as an '09 juvenile pair, and have been absolutely mesmerized by them ever since. Simply put, they are the yard dogs of my collection. They have a ferocious appetite (currently feeding on medium to large, 100-200 g rats), an incredibly active metabolism, are great climbers, and are experts at turning their enclosure upside down. One of the most impressive examples that I have seen of this species was "Buster", a beaded lizard that was owned by the late Ernest A. (Ernie) Liner, which at the time was about 44 years old. In late September 2011, they produced their first clutch of three eggs that unfortunately turned out to be infertile. However, in early September 2012 they laid their second clutch, this time containing seven fertile eggs. Heloderma horridum have a relatively long incubation period, with six of the seven eggs hatching after 210-216 days in late March/early April 2013. Since then, they have produced a clutch every single year.
