Comments:	This species of lancehead was named in honor of Joao Moojen, a mammologist at the Museu Nacional in Rio de Janeiro. It occurs in semiarid or seasonally dry tropical savannas of central and southeastern Brazil, and ranges into eastern Paraguay, northern Argentina, and eastern Bolivia. It typically reaches a total length of 160 cm, and possibly up to 180-230 cm. B. moojeni seems to have close affinities with B. atrox, with whom it may be conspecific. Like many other members of this genus, B. moojeni can be very defensive, striking from long distances and seemingly tossing their entire bodies toward the intended target. This female has a rich brownish coloration that extends through the length of the body, including the tail. The male is much more greenish in coloration, and has a yellow tail tip.
