| Zuri had notably audible breathing when first purchased--clicks and faint airflow sounds. Within a few days gular (puffed throat) breathing was noted, and a day after that, she was noted opening her mouth wide like a crocodile while at rest. No discharge or bubbling, and no open mouth/gular breathing when handled. As we want her healthy for the stress of any potential egg-laying, we wanted to treat this sooner than later. Began a round of antibiotics; vet gave her the initial dose via shot, and we will give her the next 10 doses (5 daily, then 5 every other day) orally. Vet determined she is still healthy enough for breeding and feeding normally. |
