Comments Concern regarding Possible RI Deandre has some concern that Khaos may have an RI. He sent a message to Chris letting him know that Khaos was salivating and exhibiting some open mouth breathing. He asked if Chris had him on any antibiotics previously especially because of the previous nose rub. Chris got back to us immediately and said the following : " I brought him over to see Dr. JD a while back thinking he had an RI as well. (This was when the nose rub happened & the scab had formed) We did a culture and it was not an RI Dr. told me it was due to the severe rubbing on his nose blocking his Nares. Whether or not this has changed is possible, but it is getting progressively better since then, so I am thinking it is still not an RI. The scabbibg had blocked the Nares completely which had him breathing only through his mouth. Over the past 6 months since taking him in, he has been returning to normal slowly but surely. Once I had taken him back to see Dr. JD and gotten the culture results back, I moved him back into the snake room with everyone else. It could be the stress of moving him ( I have had some retics come in with pretty significant saliva that went away fairly quickly after they settled in) Could also be he was soaking prior to moving. You will notice hs lip is slightly pulled up from the rub healing which makes it almost impossible for him not to get water in his mouth when soaking. Try upping his heat to the higher end maybe try providng him with a smaller water bowl, shallower so he cannot soak his entire body.... After speaking to Chris a little more, I really looked at Khaos and his lip really is pulled up a bit. We do not believe he has an RI he does exhibit some open mouth breathing. His Nares do not seem to be clogged up at all, but they look like Pin Pricks, They are so small from the nose rub being so severe. Other than that he is doing great.

Comments "Aquired Khaos" Received Khaos today from Chris Flanders (tOnegOd). H told us that Khaos is a Sears Line Hypo Hogg Island he is about 5 years old ( 2005). Chris got him about 2 years ago from a girl on iherp named "Ladyluck". Khaos had severe nose rub (which healed up about 6 months ago) When it started healing it clogged up his Nares. He pretty much stopped eating until it healed completely. According to Chris he has been eating like a pig for the last 6 months though. Chris also said that Khaos is floppy like every other Hogg, He said be careful when handling him, dont let him stretch out to far he will eventually flop over and smack his head. One other real problem is that his teeth are too long for his head so he will end up biting foen on himself and bleeding like mad. This had happened to Chris twice, He mentioned his lip did not heal correctly from the nose rub so his mouth does not shut all the way & sometimes has to breathe through his mouth. he is very sweet & Has a great disposition. Chris said depending on how much light or dark he is exposed to his color can change between Ivory white and dark brown.
