Plume died [cornsnake]

Posted by blind at 8/21/2022 7:52:13 PM

Yesterday we had to euthanise Plume :(

For many months he had a mass near his cloaca, and it slowly grew until he couldn't poop anymore, so he stopped eating. He grew thinner, had less energy and you could tell something was wrong. With the vet we tried giving him antibiotics, in case it was an infection, but nothing worked. Turns out it wasn't an infection, it was cancer. The mass was full of blood, because tumour create blood vessels to feed itself. There was nothing I could do.
He had a nice life. I want to bury him next to his brother Checkmate. I'll miss him.

I found this article about what seems to be what Plume had. I cannot say if it's exactly this, because I didn't do an autopsy, but the symptoms are similar. :(
bacon cancer.

Rest in peace Plume. Cancer is something none of us want to hear. I've seen 3, not in my collection, but 3 snakes I've had to care for diagnosed with cancer. I wish I knew what to say for this other than sorry.
