About S & D Reptiles / Radical Rhacs / Steve / Dianna
My Reptile Interests
I've been keeping reptiles since I was 5. I used to catch the small brown anoles in the back yard, tame them, and hang them on each ear as earings! From there I remember catching my first Florida Ring-neck snake when I was six. A beautifull black snake with a yellow ring aound its neck but its belly was a gorgeous sunset color from red at the tail to yellow and the head. We also had black water moccasins that used to peel off their skin on the tennis court fenses but I knew to leave them alone! My mom let me keep a brilliant green iguana inside the house that I caught too. She allowed me to have a 20 gallon fishtank in my room at 10 but I got bored of the fish and ended up with salamander newts! She should have know.! I came home one day at 16 and surprised my mom with a tiny baby Albino Burmese Python name Mandarine (for her bright orange color). I bought it with my birthday money mom! She was with me till I turned 29 and she passed of unknown causes. She was over 15 feet long and as gentle as a lamb. R.I.P. Mandy! The guys at my moms factory caught a HUGE green iguana in the parking lot and my mom brought him home for me. I release him in my back yard where he live for several years. He love to go swimming in the pool and sunbathing on the patio while eating my hybiscus flowers. So pretty! I was given a very vicious Savanahh Monitor named Vicki by a friend during high school to try and tame. She was not a very happy camper but with a little coaxing (and very fast hands) I was finally able to hold her. She is now with a good frind who breeds them. I love living in Miami. There is so much wildlife and herping is easily accomplished. My son is follwing in my footsteps because ever since I can remember he showns no fear and will catch the huge banana spiders and the blue tail skinks at the horsebarn and run Mommy, Mommy look what I caught! He is now 13 and has claimed the Tibetan Frog eyed geckos as his along with several crested and leos. The legacy continues...
Other Interests
My other passion is horses!!!! I have been riding since I was 8. On my way home from elementary school, there was a stable behind the catholic church and the owner would let me clean stalls to be able to ride. This all happened behind my moms back. She had no idea untill my grades came in. lol. He was kind and taught me how to ride on his ponies then he allowed me to ride his beautifull black stallion quarterhorse. At 21, with the help of a friend, I purchased my first horse. She was a jet black ARABIAN I named Shetana (SHE DEVIL in arabic). She was Wild and ferrel. It took me 2 weeks just for her to let me touch her. Once I gained her confidence I broke her and we went trailriding with friends for over 12 miles in a day. She is still with me at a health 24 years old. I used to Race Barrels too! I still own my Gorgeous Black Barrel Racing Quarterhorse. Along wit being a halter show horse she gives lessons to children. She places first with my son often. We also have the privilage of owning 2 Andalusian horses. They are related to the horses in Cavalia. 1 is a baby that is half bullfughting Portuguese Lusitano/half Spanish National Champion who is Huge. The other is a Pure Spanish Mare in Foal to a 5 time National Champion Stallion. I can't wait to see the baby! These pure white girls are so noble and graceful! I still can't beleive I own them.
