My Reptile Interests

So basically this page is for a school-run program in Grand Rapids, Mi. East Kentwood High School has over 100 animals in which reptiles are a majority of. Our snakes range from many different species of pythons, boas, and colubrids. Our lizards consist of a green iguana, bearded dragons, tegus, anoles, and a few different species of geckos both arboreal and terrestrial. We also have a sulcata tortoise which eats at least 3 metric tons of veggies and fruit every week! Also included in the room which are not included in the herp family are a Green-winged Macaw, Red-bellied Parrot, a Cockatiel breeding project, a quail breeding project, three different species of scorpions, three different species of tarantulas, 2 three-hundred gallon saltwater tanks, a few scattered saltwater nanocubes, and some freshwater projects starting soon.

Other Interests

Outside of reptiles for all of us is... well.. reptiles. Everybody on the reptile team has a responsibility for the maintenance and comprehensive knowledge for each snake, lizard, etc. We strive to maintain suitable living environments in order to keep our animals healthy. Outside of maintaining our animals, we present and breed them. There is always an upcoming presentation at a local school carnival or classroom setting. As far as breeding goes... well, we each take special care to insure a fertile breeding environment and almost every snake that we have at least a pair of gets bred every year.
