My Reptile Interests

I've been keeping reptiles since 1992 where I started with a ball python. I got into boa constrictors in 2001 and carpets shortly afterwards. I never intend to look back! I love the tremendous variability of the carpet python subspecies. I am also an avid field herper complete with a Life List. Species of note that I have seen include: Costa Rican boa constrictor, eyelash viper, puff adder, Nile crocodile, Southern rock python, black swamp snake, mud snake, and scarlet snake.

Other Interests

I am truly happy when I am on a trail walking through the woods and/or herping. I love hiking, camping, canoe/kayaking, and backpacking. I also enjoy reading and my favorites include Lord of the Rings, any of the DnD series, and just about any other fantasy work. Playing Dungeons and Dragons is another of my pass times, it's nice to be someone else for a change! I also attend Ren fairs in costume when I find them in town and collect period swords. I'm also into nature/wildlife photography, traveling, collecting animal skulls and furs, taxonomic relationships, and visiting zoos.

I'll listen to all types of music, but my favorite genre is classic rock: Led Zep, Beatles, Pink Floyd, the Doors, Eric Clapton, Bob Seger, etc. I also like Flogging Molly and bluegrass/folk stuff.

Movies
|
|
Favorite movies: Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Willow, Princess Bride, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Alien/Predator franchise, Indian Jones, Avatar, 5th Element, Braveheart, Gladiator, Resident Evil, a good mix of anime and even some Disney movies (Sword in the Stone, Jungle Book, most of the Pixar ones)

I am an ecologist/wildlife biologist. I work for Moody Gardens in the massive indoor rain forest exhibit. What more could I wish for working with such fascinating animals?
