I would say she was 1 1/2 yrs approx when that photo was taken, guessing a bit to save myself the trouble. She hasn't changed, for about a week after shed she is more red, then most of the time she's darkening, or what I call "muddying up." After a shed the whites are bright again, her belly is unmarred, snow white too. A number of bredli enthusiasts feel UVB might enhance their red coloration, I'm going to give it a try. The species apparently spends much of the time in the open, perched upon rocky shelves overlooking small trails, waiting for prey, under the hot Australian sun. When you see the most red examples in photos, it is pretty impressive. I haven't seen any high quality reds from American breeders, who seem to focus on stripes not color. Anyway, they're such nice "pet" snakes, I noticed Big Apple was breeding them now, promoting them as good starter snakes. I really enjoy mine.

Sheila's the sweetest! I'm building her a palace, 6 foot tall, 4 foot wide, UVB for basking. See if I can turn her red again!
