Comments:	Dasypeltis gansi is an egg-eating colubrid from West Africa. It was first described from Mahamouda Che´rif, Basse Casamance, Se´ne´gal (Trape and Mane 2006). It was named in honor of the German herpetologist Hans Gans (1923-2009). Trape and Mane (2006) describe this species as being dorsally almost uniformly pale beige, with barely darker patches medially and laterally, which are especially apparent in juveniles. This type of pattern is met consistently in specimens from western Senegal, from Casamance to the Senegal River delta, as well as in specimens from Benin, Niger and the San southeast Mali.
