Animal Name: Spinner
Species: Darwin Carpet Python
Morelia spilota variegata
Sex: Unknown
Comments: Spinner is a new rescue snake. He was given up because his former owner is moving and doesn't care to take Spinner with him.

He is a big guy---holding him up over my head, his tail touches the floor--so 6+ feet.

So far, his temperament seems fine. The former owner said he was friendly except when he is hungry. He fed every 3 weeks.

Spinner is available for adoption, I just need to figure out a reasonable adoption fee as I am not familiar with the carpet market.

Of course, you could give him to your dear friend me or bring him down for weekend visitation at least. ;)

very nice, Sonja! he's definitely a big guy and will likely get longer. he looks like a coastal, but i'm not an expert. Coastals can get up to 10ft. Most other carpets will get to the 7-8 ft range. i would say about $100-150 is a fair fee.

Gorgeous carpet. I second Chris's advice on the price, a quick spin around carpet breeder sites seems to average in that price range.

ummm... keep it. looks like a really nice carpet. you'll miss it if you find it a home. find him a nice girlfriend! as for adoption fee... go easy on the price, but make VERY sure that whoever ends up with it is going to KEEP it. if the person who gets it is loyal to every animal they keep. otherwise this guy is gonna end up seeing a dozen more homes. i'd say between 50 and 150 bucks. your call. good job rescuing this one! very cool on your part!
