Animal Name: Unnamed Aberrant Tessera-K R

Species: Common Corn Snake
Elaphe guttata guttata
Sex: Unknown
Birthdate: 8/28/2025

-Sire and dam were Apollo and an unnamed female reference code TCPG-0020PG-S. The dam was a normal het anery and hypo. The sire Apollo is a striped tessera het hypo, anery, and diffused bloodred from Richard Hume's pied line.

-Normal Aberrant Tessera 100% Het Stripe 50% Het Diffused 66% Het Anerythristic 66% Het Hypo. They are from pied bloodred lines. I practiced popping genders with this group and this is a suspected male.

-Seems calm I thought it was a surprise striped tessera at first when I saw the head and neck down. Then some actual tessera side pattern started back up so this must be an aberrant Tessera.

-Ate first meal overnight.
-Second meal ate off tongs.
-Ate third meal off tongs.

**Grandsire is Ares and granddam is Casper. Pairing was Normal to a Ghost, and both grandparents came from bloodlines over 20 to 25 years ago. Both grandparents exhibited low expression aberrant patterned necks. Both parents have produced low to high expression aberrant/Aztec/zipper babies with each other and other partners. This kids mother #20 also produced low expression aberrant patterned necks in 100% of her babies (full siblings to this kid) from two clutches. The dams to full siblings who have not been test breed yet also have low expression aberrant neck pattern. We want people aware of this for our old bloodline relating to Ares and Casper stuff. Just be aware of this as we have not proven things out completely yet. Ares never produced kinked offspring. Casper produced only one kinked offspring that I know of, and it WASN'T when she was paired to Ares. Casper's daughter, Zeenon's full sister, also produced kinked babies in about a quarter of her clutch. **Things to take away from this is that any kinked babies should be hard or soft culled. Babies without kinks can be bred but must be outcrossed to try to breed out the problem gene. Just like how lavenders were. Ares and Casper age wise do line up with when kinks were still coming out of lavender based stuff. The sire of this kid is Apollo. Apollo comes from Richard Hume and old pied blood stock that had lavender crop up as a hidden recessive. We now think he may also have the same recessive kink gene. We believe it MIGHT be related. We think the aberrant thing is potentially an incomplete dominant trait while the kinked trait is recessive based off of our three generations so far. We will be trying to keep the aberrant trait and breed out the kink trait
