THOR is the red-haired and bearded GOD OF THUNDER in Germanic mythology. Thor owns a short-handled hammer, Mjöllnir, which, when thrown at a target, returns magically to its owner. His Mjöllnir also has the power to throw lightning bolts. Thor is the son of Odin and the giantess Jörd (Jord, the Earth).
