Reference Code: 0.1 CB10 Sistrurus miliarius barbouri
Species: Dusky Pygmy Rattlesnake
Sistrurus miliarius barbouri
Sex: Female
Locale: Southern Florida
Birthdate: 6/7/2010
Comments: Named after the Latin term "miliarius", meaning "warlike". This species occurs in swampy or marshy areas, floodplains, and dry woodded uplands throughout the southeastern and south-central United States. In Florida, it is found in pine flatland, prairies, and wet prairies. Adults usually reach a length of 40-60 cm, with a maximum length around 80 cm.

This Southern Florida locality S. m. barbouri was produced by Joe Switalski in June 2010. I acquired her in September 2010, and she has since grown into a beautiful adult - one of the nicer specimens of this species that I have come across.
