Animal Name: 0.1 CB Dendroaspis intermedius
Reference Code: Tanzania
Species: East African Green Mamba
Dendroaspis angusticeps
Sex: Female
Death Date: 12/19/2023
Comments: Dendroaspis angusticeps was first described by Smith (1849) as Naja angusticeps. This East African species of mamba is found from Kenya south to the Natal region of South Africa, where it occurs in coastal areas.

This is an absolutely stunning specimen: captive-bred, every bit of 6ft in length, and a fluorescent green coloration that has to be seen to be believed. It came without locality data, but I recently sequenced it in the lab, and then plugged it into my Dendroaspis data set. Based on that, it appears to be from East Africa, which is very different from the lineage that is found in South Africa.
