Animal Name: 0.1 LTC Dendroaspis jamesoni kaimosae
Species: Jameson's Mamba
Dendroaspis jamesoni
Sex: Female
Death Date: 2/19/2022
Comments: This species was first described by Traill (1843), and has a more Central African distribution than the other mamba species.

D. jamesoni was the last of the four species of mambas for me to work with. In some circles, this species has a bit of a reputation for being finicky. I acquired this female as a shoe lace-sized hatchling in September 2010, and she has since grown to about 6 ft, and is greedily devouring small rats. After eight years of searching, I finally found her a suitable mate in 2018. Even when mambas were readily available, this particular species was always quite difficult to acquire, and even more challenging to keep alive long-term. I'm really hoping to produce some offspring in 2019-20.
