Reference Code: 1.0 CB10 Lystrophis pulcher
Species: Tri-color Hognose Snake
Lystrophis pulcher
Sex: Male
Birthdate: 10/27/2010
Death Date: 11/28/2011
Comments: Lystrophis pulcher was described by Jan in 1863 as Heterodon pulcher, due to the morphological similarities shared with that genus. The type locality is Bolivia, and it was named after the Latin term "pulcher", meaning beautiful. It is also found in southwestern Brazil, southern Paraguay,
and Argentina. It is thought to be a coral snake mimic, imitating the sympatric species Micrurus pyrrhocryptus tricolor in Paraguay.

We decided to pair up our lonely adult female with this captive-bred juvenile from Jenea Wood. This should make for an excellent pair of these incredibly cute snakes.
