Comments:	Cerastes cerastes was originally described by Linnaeus (1758) as Coluber cerastes. Four subspecies have been proposed, including the nominate form, Cerastes c. karlhartli from the Sinai peninsula and southeastern Egypt through Kordofan, Cerastes c. mutila from southwestern Algeria and adjacent Morocco, and Cerastes c. hoofieni from the southwestern corner of the Arabian Peninsula. That said, the two subspecies C. c. karlhartli and C. c. mutila are not universally recognized, and were synonymized with C. cerastes by McDiarmid et al. (1999). This pair was produced by Joe Deavers in September 2011. Both the male and the female are immaculate and will be taking their first shot at breeding in 2016.
