Just wanted to add, I agree it's Acanthogonatus francki, but they aren't tarantulas :) Very closely related, like a cousin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nemesiidae Really cool find though!

Aha, it wasn't until you mentioned "Chilean" I was able to find it...I spent a few hours looking last night with no luck. I've never even heard of these before, it looks like what you have is a chilean bronze tiger rump, scientific name (which are always way more help with Ts than common names, there are so many similar ones. lol) Acanthogonatus franki.

It was sold as a costa rican, most people have told me it's likely a male costa rican, but I still can't help wondering if it's a chilean...
