Animal Name: Blast
Reference Code: Medium Express. Pied
Species: Common Corn Snake
Elaphe guttata guttata
Sex: Male
Morph: Pied sided Blood Red
Comments: This guy was hatched right here at NWB and is one of two snakes that came from crossing Ocher to Cerise. I would describe him as a medium expression pied, not that you can tell from the picture. His parents are not supposed to be hets or very low expression pieds, but I suspect that they are. If not, then this snake may be a new line of pieds. This snake has only one sibling and it too is a pied, although it is deformed and currently living elsewhare as a pet.

You going to be testing him out this season? I may just wait for next season.

I'm not as familiar with Rob and Luise's animals, but Rich Z definitely has a reputation for having random genes pop up amongst his snakes.. considering what a large scale operation Bayou Reptiles is, it seems very possible that their parents were Pied! Also, I think back in '06, as you said, people didn't always recognize the low/no expression Pied Sideds. Good luck with these guys, I might be interested in some of the offspring!

His parents came from Rob and Louise Stevens of Bayou Retiles inLouisianna . They swear that mom and dad do not come from pied lines, BUT, they do breed pieds in their giant snakery. I actually do think the parents came from pieds projects. I think that both parents are 100% homo pieds BUT, I think they have such low expression that it's invisible. I have eggs from known pied hets incubating right now. Last time these hets pieds bred, the pied gene didn't turn up . When It does, I'll do some trials and see.

Looks great, but i the parents are already suspect/possible pieds, what makes you think he's a new bloodline? Do you have any snakes from the known lines to test him against?
