Comments Necropsy Report Inclusion Body Disease/Syndrome www.anapsid.org/idb.html Unsure if virus is air borne or only physically transmittable, not enough study of the virus. All over retrovirus leading to secondary stomach and kidney infections and kidney failure in Fluffy. Highly contagious and 100% fatal. Euthanasia was appropriate and extra measure must me taken to ensure non transfer to other BOIDS from habitat remnants and contact.

Vet Trip euthanasia with necropsy requested @ 3:50pm $170.41 Snake had no weight gain and loss of energy. Vet said overall prognosis was very grim and to save allot of trouble to the animal and to ourselves to euthanize and order a necropsy to see what was the cause of ill health. Still concerns over viral contagion due to increase of neurological damage and actions and results should be back in approx. 2 wks. necropsy cost 137.18/ euthasol injection 29.73/ osha disposal fee 3.50

Comments general condition Since last week, Fluffy has responded to his treatment with promising signs. He moves about the habitat more frequently than before to control his body temp and exhibits general improvement in body control and activity level. Hydration is no longer a concern as the skin is retaining moisture more on it's own after every soak. Switched habitat over from natural to plastic and paper towels and keeping humidity around 60%. Still signs of dehydration, mainly being lose skin and retention when pinched. Small amount of weight gain at this point but the "lumpy" feel is less. The digestive track is working well at this point and the vet seems pleased with his progress this early with activity a main sign of recovery.

If no progression in overall physical condition by 5/5/2012, will have to euthanize. May have post mort exam to find causes to protect other snake(s) in collection.
