My Reptile Interests

I think that I can, like most, Track my reptile obsession back to my interest in Dinosaurs as a kid. I have always been around reptiles for as long as I can remember. My Dad's cousin had a pair of huge boas. Ican remember opening up thier cage and dragging them out at 3 or 4 (I dont recomend this with any reptile). I kept lots of lizards through the years like Iguanas, anoles, ect. It wasnt until a few years ago that I began studying anything and everything i could find on herps. i broke down and purchased a florida kingsnake from a Friends pet shop. if you havent figured it out by now, Snakes are like chips... you cant have just one.
I have learned alot through the years, but Im by no means an expert. i dont think that there is anyone in the world who knows everything there is to know about herpetology. There is always something new to learn and this what keeps my interest more than anything. I enjoy sharing my expereince and knowledge if anyone has questions, no matter how basic, feel free to ask me.

Other Interests

Besides Herpetology, I am an avid writer. I write mostly horror/fiction. As with most writers, I read alot. I read everything from beat generation/counter-culture novels to fantasy. When Im not writing, you can find my cruising around looking for a hand rail to wax with my board in the trunk. I also have an interest in anything that deals with history. If I have a day to do nothing, I head out to old farm house foundations for some metal detecting. There Is nothing that excites me more than looking into a hole and catching the glint of a silver coin thats been underground for a hundred years- other than seeing a little head pop out of a leathery egg, that is.

I go to alot of shows in the summer. i wouldnt say that I listen to any particular genre of music, but i am partial to independent labels. Favorite bands: Modest Mouse, The Smiths, The Flaming Lips, Ugly Casanova, Drive by Tuckers, Band of Horses, The Black Keys, The Geatful Dead and Phish just to name a few.
