My Reptile Interests
|
|
My love of reptiles started when my husband got me a tortoise, Moose, not long after we met in 2009. I had always liked reptiles, even as a kid, but my parents would never let me keep one as a pet. Over the last few years, I've acquired several tortoises, and one box turtle. The box turtle was hit by a car, and brought into my work. We fixed her shell, and I've hung onto her, because after the healing time, she wouldn't adjust well to being back in the wild.
Over the last six months, I've really gotten into snakes. I was bitten by the ball python bug, and I currently have eight of those. My husband has a thing for carpet pythons, and we currently have four of those. We also have a red tail boa, and a Brazilian rainbow boa.
Recently, I have developed a love for Green Tree Pythons. I picked up a beautiful female at an expo a couple of months back. She is probably the sweetest snake we own. Recently we took on another that had been the victim of very poor husbandry by his previous owner. He/she seems to be on the mend as well, and is also turning out to be very sweet.
My full time job involves working in the surgery department at a veterinary hospital. We don't see many reptiles there, more cats and dogs. I did learn about reptiles in school, but lately I have been on a crash course to re-learn everything and apply it to my reptiles at home. I look forward to making more friends in the herp world, and as always more learning. I am also a new volunteer at a local reptile humane society.

Other Interests

I love animals, most of them, really. I have five Chihuahuas that are all spoiled rotten. I enjoy gardening. I spend a lot of free time in the summer working in my yard. I also sew.
