My Reptile Interests
I have enjoyed reptiles since around the age of eight, like many others I would bring home all kinds of strange things wanting to keep it as a pet. My dad would usually go along with it for a while. I grew up in southen Oregon and there was a lot of reptile life to be found close to my home. When I moved at the age of 13 to an area of few herps and no knowlege of the area my interests changed and I didn't even think of having a reptile for a pet until I had children of my own. I was introduced to my, now, very close friend Ryan Young. He worked a short time with my wife and needed an air conditioner in his new home. I had herd of his addiction of snakes and was quite intrigued. After visiting his home to install the a/c and seeing his collection I was left wanting a snake pretty bad. My son was around 5 at the time and had fallen in love with Ryans little rubber boa male, which he offered to sell us. I was good with buying it until I found out that they could be found near our home in Idaho. So the search was on, I found a nice young male the first time I went looking(I did a lot of research prior to looking). We had this animal for around six months and he had acclimated well to captive care and feeding when I decided to get myself a few snakes. I think within a two year period I went from four or five to around 75 animals, I had out grown the bacement and moved in an addition on the garage. I have been fully addicted to this hobby ever since and still love to read and learn more every day. I have been working with several species but my top would be the kenyan sand boas, rosy boas, and hognose. Who knows what will be next!
Other Interests
I love the outdoors. I enjoy hiking, hunting and fishing. pretty much anything that can be done outdoors I will enjoy.
