About Jamie Watson
My Reptile Interests
I was the little girl running around catching all types of snakes, lizards, bugs, and the occasional tortoise. This gave my mother daily "heart attacks" or so she said. But most of the time she was a good sport about me bringing in all these crazy critters. But for a long time (thru most of high school and the first 2 years of college) I didn't keep any reptiles. Other then one mean a** iguana I had for a few years in high school, who daily tried to eat my fingers off. But after that iguana I didn't have any interest in reptiles till my 3rd year of college...when my fiance and I had gotten a place together in 2009 and he suggested going to the local Raleigh, NC gila producation reptile show...which we did. (He never got to have any cool pets as a kid and is now making up for it :)...) At that show we got 4 little corn snakes, which thrilled him (and me) with there cute little snake antics. Not much longer I got our first adult ball python, a normal male, who was the calmest snake I ever meet. We still have this fellow and he is turning into a giant and sure loves his weekly rat. Next, we came across some people who had 100's of unkept snakes in their home and we "rescued" 2. They were charging crazy prices for these snakes and it was all we could afford. A female ball python (who was and still is a mean monster) and one super aggressive over sized rat snake (would strike the side of the tank as soon as you walked in the room). We ended up finding a snake rescue who dealt with over aggressive snakes to take it and he is doing well. Shortly after that we got 2 leopard geckos... And now...only 2 years later we have around 20 snakes, 20 geckos, a very spoiled bearded dragon, and a bunch of rats. We have slowly stepped into breeding, this season we breed a few geckos and 2 ball pythons. So far we've had 2 geckos hatch ( super cute babies) and on 6/30 are first set of ball python eggs are set to hatch. (Enchi*Blonde Pastel)
Other Interests
Haha, I (and my fiance, Brady) have very little life outside of reptiles :) But occasionally we go out to the farmers market (for fresh veggies for our bearded dragon) or out with friends (other people interested in reptiles). Trolling Fauna, KS and Ben Siegel's reptile auctions is a new favorite past time.
Music
I listen to rock, hip-hop, r&b, and when I have to country. And I love Porcelain Black's song with Lil' Wayne- This is what rock and roll looks like.
Movies
I heart tv....well hulu and netflix that is.
Professional
Im a second year senior :) Not trying to be a slacker but I changed my major from biology to business administration and communication my 3rd year. So, 1 extra year isn't so bad. So far no full time job...but I'm not complaining. Even though I gave up biology and opted for business which I have a better mind for, I still want to work with animals especially reptiles.
Anything else?
...lets keep a little mystery in this relationship :P
